Culture
Coca-Cola states that "Diversity in an integral part of who we are, how we operate and how we see the future." So in other words diversity is the key to their success. The company's central purpose is to refresh the world in mind, body and spirit. They want to inspire moments of optimisum and make a difference in the world. They argue that in order to keep the success they need to have the diversity because with the diversity they could expand farther and farther around the world. On their official website they have a section labeled "Global Diversity Strategic Framework" The section talks about all their views on diversity. Coke works hard to insure an inclusive and fair work environment for all their employees around the world.
Based on my reading i believe that Coca-Cola does a lot to help out their employees and they go to far lengths to keep not only their employees but also their consumers happy.

Lawrence Kohlberg's StagesLawrence Kohlberg's stages of moral development focuses greatly on moral actions. According to Kohlberg"s theory there are 3 levels and 6 stages of ethical reasoning. I think Coca-Cola would be categorized as a level 3 (post-conventional) and stage 6 company. This means that Coca-Cola is set at the highest in ethical reasoning. In other words Coca-Cola follows strict ethical laws and regulations to help better the world. They practice these theories by giving back to the world and helping keep the environment clean by decreasing their water usage, becoming environmentally friendly and using sustainable packaging. The have set goals like:
Code of ConductCoca-Cola has a 43 page pdf document (Code of Business Conduct) on their main website that explains their code of conduct in detail. The document is very well organized with a cover page and a glossary which makes it extremely easy for you to find an answer to any question you may have. The document goes in debt on how employees and manager need to do conduct themselves when at work. It gives examples of situations you could be in and gives you the answers on what you should do if you are ever in that situation. It also has questions that you should ask yourself if you are ever stuck in an ethical dilemma and don't know what to do. The questions can help clear everything up so you can make a decision that will not hurt you nor the company. The company is serious about conducting their business with integrity which means any kind of corruption no matter how big or small is not tolerated.

3 LevelsThe 3 levels from our text that we talked about are: ethical behavior, corporate social responsibility, and corporate government. After doing some research i concluded that Coca-Cola focuses alot on ethical behavior. In their "Code of Business Conduct" document they talk about what is expected of their employees. It gives the employees a set question that they should ask themselves if they are ever in a dilemma, if you answer "no" to any of these questions then that would mean you should not be doing what you are doing.examples of these question include:
• Will it reflect well on me and the Company? • Would I want to read about it in the newspaper? |
Triple Bottom LineTriple bottom line: "Financial, social, and environmental effects of a firm's policies and actions that determine its viability as a sustainable company."
Coca-Cola does not talk about "triple bottom line" in their website but through my research I found out that they are putting a lot of effort into becoming environmentally friendly. They have something called the "4 pillars of sustainability" which consists of: Water stewardship, Sustainable packaging, Energy efficiency & climate protection, and Healthier communities. They put all these pillars into use in their everyday production of their beverages.

I would classify Coca-Cola as being an ethical company because they are doing a lot to help out the our environment. They have full CSR reports for any year you want to look up. In the reports it shows that Coca-Cola has put in a lot of effort into not leaving a carbon footprint in our environment. They also have set goals like, to replenish 100% of the water they use. Another goal they have is to reach a 75% recovery
rate for the number of
bottles and cans
equivalent to what we
introduce in developed
markets. In january of this year Coke installed their 1 millionth HFC-Free cooler globally. Preventing 5.25mm metric tons of CO2.

Evolution of companyWith a history that spans over a century, it is no surprise that the Coca-Cola has seen many changes since it first began. They stared out selling nine drinks a day at a Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia and now they are selling about 19,400 beverages every second around the world. How did they do this you ask? There is no one direct answer to this question, Coca-Cola's success comes from many things. Things like Advertising Strategies, Packaging and their unique logos and slogans which set them apart from other companies. All of this combined, plus the masterminds and scientists behind the creation of the beverages put the company on a one way ticket to the top.
